Recently, Microsoft has announced that it discontinues its major online security suite, the Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG). While this is comes of no surprise to any interested party, the discontinuation of one of the major threat management products will mean a lot to Microsoft customers as well as to the security industry as a whole. For some Microsoft TMG users, the discontinuation of Microsoft security gateway will feed the urge to change corporate security infrastructure in near future. Many others may want to postpone the migration as there are still years left of mainstream support for the discontinued product, and some more years of extended support are available to subscribers. With TMG’s huge user base, our prediction is the platform is not about to disappear any time soon. This is why we are continuing maintaining, developing and upgrading our own network security suite, ADVSoft ProxyInspector, with full commitment to supporting the TMG platform.
Here at ADVSoft, it’s business as usual. We are continuing developing, supporting and maintaining our network security tools such as ProxyInspector. The discontinuation of Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway caused no changes to any of our roadmaps – at least not until 2020. We’ll continue supporting the discontinued Microsoft platform along with many other platforms supported by ProxyInspector. After all, we’re still supporting the legacy platforms such as Microsoft ISA Server 2000, 2004 and 2006.
And even if (or when) you decide to jump the ship and migrate your security infrastructure away from Microsoft Forefront TMG, we’ll have the familiar reporting solution ready for your new platform, as ADVSoft ProxyInspector supports many more platform beside Microsoft’s including solutions provided by Kerio, Qbik, Squid, and Eproxy/EServ.
ADVSoft ProxyInspector helps employers improve employee productivity and responsibility by monitoring and reporting on their online activities. Supporting all major proxy servers, ProxyInspector can analyze their logs in order to help network administrators control Web resources visited by employees during their paid hours, detect social networking activities, analyze searches, detect and prevent leaks of sensitive information.
Microsoft Forefront Threat Management Gateway (TMG), formerly known as Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA Server), is a network security and productivity gateway protecting network users against Web-based threats. TMG is deployed on corporate networks as a unified gateway protecting network users from malware and other threats. Forefront TMG ensures comprehensive protection by inspecting Web traffic at different layers. On September 12th, 2012, Microsoft has announced that Forefront Threat Management Gateway has reached the end of its life cycle and will be discontinued as of December 1th, 2012. Maintenance and support for Forefront TMG will still be provided through the standard Microsoft support lifecycle.
