MDaemon Mail Server can process two kinds of email messages: Local
- sent by the users in the local network to other local users. This kind of mail does not generate any outgoing traffic and does not use your Internet connection. Internet
- sent by the users in the local network to remote users outside your LAN. These messages utilize your Internet connection and generate traffic recorded by your Internet Service Provider.
MailDetective will be able to differentiate the locally delivered messages and messages sent to the Internet only if your mail domains are correctly specified in the MailDetective settings (this must be done prior to importing any log files!). In MailDetective, select the Datebase | Program settings
, Local domains table
add your company domains on this page.
Also, MailDetective can detect locality of sender using it`s IP-address. To enable this feature select the Datebase | Program settings
, Local addresses table
On this tab check ON Use IP instead of domain for sender locality detection
switch. Also if your LAN IP-addresses are differ from default you should correct them.
