To collect information about email traffic, MailDetective uses Exchange Message Tracking Log Files (log files from this point on). You need to specify their location in the program settings. In Exchange Server 2000 and Exchange Server 2003, log files could be managed in Exchange System Manager. In Exchange Server 2007 and Exchange Server 2010, log files can be managed using Exchange Management Shell (EMS) only and only on servers with Hub Transport, Edge Transport and/or MailBox roles. Starting from Exchange Server 2007, logging is enabled by default on servers with Hub Transport, Edge Transport and MailBox roles. If it was disabled for some reason, it can be turned back on by running the following command:
Set-TransportServer SERVERNAME -MessageTrackingLogEnabled $true
