The built-in task scheduler facilitates the task of managing ProxyInspector tasks in the standard Windows scheduler. The scheduler enables you to automate report creation and data import from log files. The created tasks contain ProxyInspector console commands with pre-defined parameters.

The top part of the window contains a list of tasks, the remaining area is allocated for task settings. To add a new task, specify its name in the Task name fields and press Add. The rest of the required fields will be filled with default values. You can configure task settings prior to creating a task or afterwards. To change task settings after a task is created, select it in the list and make the necessary changes.

 

Settings:

 

Task kind — defines the task type; possible values — it is possible to schedule data import from log files into the program database or generate a report based on imported data.

 

Run — defines the recurrence of the task. Possible values: once, daily, weekly, specific dates in a month, specific days in a month. Configure this option in a way that will provide you with accurate and up-to-date information.

 

The Start field contains the date and time of the task’s start. The Interval field contains the value of the recurrence period for recurring tasks.

 

The settings below depend on the recurrence pattern of the selected task and allow you to configure the conditions of its execution. For instance, if you configured a task to run daily, you can choose a recurrence interval within a day with to-the-hour accuracy; of you selected a weekly pattern, you will be able to select the days of the week and so on.

The settings in the right part of the window are only available for the Report task type.

Report — the dropdown list enables you to select a ready report template as described in the Report templates section.

Save — a prepared report will be saved to a file.

Email — a prepared report will be sent by email. You can configure email-related settings in the Email section of the Base settings window.

Do not rewrite existing — enable this option if you need to save a previously created report file.

File name — this field is used for entering the name of the file the report will be saved to. If the Email option is enabled, the File name field is replaced by the Email address field – it will be used for sending reports.

 

Report format — defines the format of the report file saved locally or emailed to users. Possible options:

HTML — a report in the form of a hyperlinked document that can be opened in the browser or published on the Internet;

MHT — a web archive that includes all report elements (text, graphics, styles) in a single file that can be viewed in a web browser;

XLS — a report in the Microsoft Excel book format;

PIR — a report in the original ProxyInspector format that can be opened with a built-in viewer;

PDF — a report in the Adobe Acrobat Reader format.

 

Username and Password fields are used for authentication. Their values are also used for gaining access to resources required to complete a task.

 

To stop working with the scheduler and save changes, press Save. To close the window without saving changes, press Cancel.
