These options apply to the import stage only and do not affect the data in the database.

The User aliasing section contains the settings related to user substitution on the import stage.

Enable user aliasing on import stage — enable this option to substitute user names by aliases on the import stage. The rest of the user substitution options on the import stage will become available when this option is enabled.

User substitution allows you to generate clearer and better readable reports, as the software will substitute user names by aliases defined in the program settings. If the same alias has been assigned to two or more users, these users will be joined into a single one. This is convenient in situations when the same user is added to log files under different names. To substitute real names, use the corresponding option in the Report wizard and User properties editor.

To associate a real name with an alias, you need to add the name to the substitution list, enter an alias into the Alias field and press Add. To associate multiple names with a single alias, enter them using a semi-colon (“;”) as a delimiter into the input field. If the import operation has been already performed, you can select the names from the list generated by the program. To do that, press Select, select the necessary names using checkboxes and press Select again. To remove a name/alias association from the substitution list, select it in the list and press the Delete button.
